About Us
St. Francis United Church is situated in the small town of Sedgefield in the heart of the Garden Route, South Africa.
Sedgefield is the first ‘SlowTown’ in Africa and, as you would expect, attracts many holidaymakers and visitors.
Most of the residents have left busy cities to enjoy a more relaxed and less stressful way of life. Of course many of the residents are retired or semi-retired people who still have lots of energy and drive and enthusiasm to get involved in the community; sharing their gifts, their talents and their expertise.
We have a Church Membership of about 130 folk of which about 95 are regular worshippers at our services. We are led by an ordained Minister and a nine member Church Council. Most of our members come from different Church backgrounds and have united together to form a community of believers whose aim is to continue the work of Christ; fulfilling His commission to ‘make disciples’, to ‘feed my sheep’ and to ‘care for my lambs’.
